Eating in London with your teenager

My ideal trip with my teenager daughter includes experimenting with different foods, visiting farmer’s markets, tasting local dishes, having a unique experience and going to (at least) one fabulous restaurant. It is also important to have a plan B, a reliable and healthy food place that you can find in multiple locations. These are our favorites in London:

1) Best Food Market:

Borough Market:
8 Southwark St, London

London’s oldest food market, where you can get incredible produce, cheese, bread, olive oil and much more! Together, the Market’s stalls, shops and restaurants reflect London’s status as a truly global city, with traditional British produce sitting alongside regional specialities from around the world.

We love:  the chorizo and rocket roll at Brindisa, the duck confit sandwich at Le Marché du Quartier, the oysters at Richard Haward’s Oysters, the coffee at Monmouth Coffee. And a visit to Neal’s Yard Dairy, providers of  cheeses sourced from around 70 specialist cheesemakers all over the UK and Ireland.

2) Best Fish and Chips:

The Golden Hind:

73 Marylebone Ln, London W1U 2PN, United Kingdom

A 100 year old restaurant in the heart of Marylebone serving Britain’s most iconic dish: fish and chips!

3)Best British Pie:

The Windmill :

6/8 Mill Street, London, W1S 2AZ

The Steak Pie at this proper British pub is a three times national award winner, and it’s always available. There are also traditional favorites such as fish pie, shepherds pie, chicken pie and vegetarian pies.

4) The fabulous restaurant:

21-22 Warwick Street
London W1B 5NE
Tel: 020 7494 9584

Chef-owner Yotam Ottolenghi’s inventive cooking has a firm foundation in the Middle East and takes bold flavour forays into the Mediterranean and Asia. The dishes to share are a must!

5) The experience:

Afternoon tea at Sketch:
9 conduit street
london w1s 2xg

This is a very sensorial experience that lives up to its hype, from the beautiful room designed by India Mahdavi, to the assortment of teas and finger foods conceived by the french chef Pierre Gagnaire, the “delicious” live music and the artwork by David Shrigley.

6) Best Pizza:

Pizza East (various locations) : with the coolest interiors by Martin Brudnizki this is the home of my favorite crispy pork belly, tomato, mushroom pizza.

7) Best takeout concept:

Wasabi Sushi & Bento (several locations): a great option when you are on the go: sushi, bento boxes, soups, poke, hot food etc…
